Todd Rowan Mellors (b. September 21, 1970) in Santa Monica CA, is a sound engineer, sound designer and performing artist with over 36 years of experience in music composition and professional audio. Having worked at top tier companies such as Avid, Apple, and Adobe, Todd has honed his expertise in sound design, production, and leveled the playing field with his wealth of knowledge by always working with cutting edge music technology. At Avid, he spent 6 years testing ProTools, further deepening his technical knowledge of digital audio applications, plug ins and hardware. He previously beta tested for Ableton Live and taught music production courses, sharing his own skills and in-depth technical knowledge with newer generations of audio professionals.

Under his stage name Saifir, Todd has performed live the globe over. As the owner of his own record label, Rimco Records, he collaborated with various artists, including projects like Xambuca and Flakbond with Touch. Music recording artist Chandra Shukla, and collaborations in various projects with members of the legendary British avant-garde group Psychic TV. His work spans across several different genres, focusing on both sound design as an artform and the emotional depth of soundtrack music.

Currently Todd is fulfilling his childhood dream of working in the film industry; focusing on both scoring and sound design for movies, tv, film and commercials. Drawing inspiration from the work of iconic filmmakers such as David Lynch, Percy Adlon and Jim Jarmusch, and influenced by composers such as Vangelis and Javier Navarrete. Todd’s scores blend the experimental, the rhythmic and the ambient, from suspenseful to incidental, from atmospheric to textural elements in his compositions. His approach is deeply rooted in capturing unique found sounds via field recordings and coincidental encounters with unique objects as well as utilizing home-built instruments, percussion, synthesizers and guitars to craft expansive sonic experiences and soundscapes.

With a passion for sonically setting the mood with a score and a knack for storytelling through sound, Todd continues to bring his skills and varied approaches to creativity as soundtracks for the world over to experience. Todd now resides in Oakland CA.
